I was taking Jackie (my little dog) for a walk on Keston Common; we were on a narrow path beside a stream when we passed a bridge over the stream. A man, his pregnant wife and their dog (a Bassett Hound) were approaching on the path that crossed the bridge. We continued beside the stream and the couple crossed the stream and turned back the way we had come; their dog, however, seemed very interested in Jackie and followed us.
The man whistled and called and was studiously ignored by his dog; I stopped after about 100 yards so we did not get too far away, and Jackie stopped about 10 yards in front of me. The man had no alternative but to come and get his dog which was still ignoring him; as he passed me he said: "It has taken me years to get him like that!"
